Finalists named for Cloquet superintendent position

The Duluth school district’s director of curriculum and instruction is among three finalists for superintendent of the Cloquet school district.

Interviews with Michael Cary and the other two finalists — Brian Corlett, superintendent of Central Public Schools in Norwood Young America, Minn., and Jeremy Olson, superintendent of the Underwood and Henning school districts in Minnesota — will begin at 5 p.m. Tuesday.

A replacement is being sought for Cloquet Superintendent Ken Scarbrough, who plans to retire after the school year. Eighteen candidates applied for the position, board member Dave Battaglia said earlier this week.

Consultant Bruce Miles has worked with a district committee to narrow down the candidates and arrange for interviews.

The interviews are open to the public, although residents not serving on the interview committee will not be allowed to speak during the meetings.
