University of Minnesota Duluth guts old science building before renovation

Chales Mims is a junior at Denfeld High School and is one of 50 students chosen worldwide for the next published book by the Freedom Writers Foundation. Chales will work with nationally renowned teacher Erin Gruwell and the original Freedom Writers over the next year. In addition, Chales will receive a new computer and webcam, and will fly to Washington, D.C. for a Freedom Writers event in April next year. (Clint Austin / caustin@duluthnews.com)
