No tenants were injured in a fire at a multi-family building in Superior on Saturday morning.

The Superior Fire Department reported that it responded to 3420 N. 21st St. to find heavy smoke on three sides of the building at about 5:30 a.m. Saturday. Fire crews made several attempts to extinguish the fire in the interior, but were unsuccessful, and a strategy was instead used to extinguish the fire that led to the loss of the building. The loss is estimated at $250,000, according to the fire department. Fire crews were still on scene on Saturday afternoon monitoring the building for any fire spots.

The building’s three tenants had already exited the building by the time fire crews arrived on Saturday. The American Red Cross is assisting the residents with food and shelter.

One firefighter experienced medical difficulties during the fire and had to exit the structure. He was transported to St. Luke’s Hospital, where he was treated and released, according to the fire department.
