Several Duluth residents are ready to serve their country after graduating from basic military training in recent months.

Air National Guard Airman 1st Class Jessalyn A. Schmaedeke graduated from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland in San Antonio. Schmaedeke is a 2012 graduate of Duluth East High School. Her parents are Tracy and Gregg Schmaedeke of Duluth.

Air National Guard Airman 1st Class Ian S. Myre graduated from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland in San Antonio. His parents are Nancy and Scott Myre of Hermantown.

Navy Petty Officer 3rd Class Jason C. Dahlen graduated from the U.S. Navy's Nuclear Power School at Naval Nuclear Power Training Command in Goose Creek, S.C. Dahlen is a 2010 graduate of Duluth East High School. His parents are Brian and Connie Dahlen of Duluth.

Navy Petty Officer 3rd Class Clay M. Grossman graduated from the U.S. Navy's Nuclear Power School at Naval Nuclear Power Training Command in Goose Creek, S.C. Grossman is a 2009 graduate of Duluth Marshall School. His parents are Dennis and Kathryn Grossman of Lake Nebagamon.

Army National Guard Spec. Tyler J. Verry graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson in Columbia, S.C. Verry is a 2007 graduate of Duluth Denfeld High School and went on to earn a bachelor's degree from the University of Minnesota in 2012. He is the son of Sandy Verry of Duluth.
