A former Security Jewelers employee who pleaded guilty to stealing thousands of dollars in goods from the downtown Duluth store has been sentenced to serve three years of probation.
Ashley Marie Wiskow, 30, of Duluth also was ordered to serve 120 hours of community service and pay $2,653 in restitution. Sixth Judicial District Judge Sally Tarnowski sentenced Wiskow on Monday on one count of felony theft.
Wiskow pleaded guilty to the charge last month. She had confessed to police that she began stealing to make ends meet, but eventually became “greedy and kept stealing.”
The criminal complaint accused Wiskow of stealing nearly $800,000 in jewelry and selling it at area pawn shops. However, store owner Jack Seiler estimated the total value of the items at about $100,000.
