Duluth warming centers open Wednesday through Friday

Duluth News Tribune News Brief

With predicted cold temperatures on their way back, Duluth's two warming centers will be open Wednesday through Friday from 8 p.m. to 8 a.m.

The temperatures are expected to drop below 10 degrees, causing the warming centers to open, according to a news release from CHUM.

The Gloria Dei warming center can be entered from the "breakfast door" at 219 N. Sixth Ave. E. The Harmony Club entrance is off 25th Avenue West between Fourth and Fifth streets in the old Lincoln Park School. People are asked not to arrive at either center before 8 p.m.

On Thursday, Gloria Dei won't open until 9 p.m. due to choir rehearsal at that location.

CHUM's drop-in center at 102 W. Second St. is always open as a warming center through the night.

The Duluth Transit Authority offers free rides for anyone specifying that they are going to or from a warming center.

In Superior, the Ruth House warming center, 632 Grand Ave., is open from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. when the temperature is 40 degrees or colder.
