The Duluth Vet Center is expected to relocate to a larger office this upcoming spring. The new location will be at 4402 Haines Road in Duluth. The purpose of the new office is to better support local veterans.
"Our lease had expired, so we were ready to move to a new area with greater space," said Jeff Hall, team leader at the Duluth Vet Center. "The veterans will be able to do more and have greater support."
The new location features 3,500 square feet, military sexual trauma relief, a program to return veterans back home and new connectivity. There also will be four counselors, one program assistant and one Global War on Terrorism outreach coordinator. Veteran work-study students and student interns working toward their graduate-level degree will staff the new office.
"The veterans seem to be pretty pleased with the idea of the new location," Hall said. "We are ready to deliver great service."
The Vet Center Program was created by Congress in 1979 out of the recognition that a major number of Vietnam-era vets still were facing reformation problems.
