Local stores continue to remove products involved in the national salmonella recall of peanut butter-based foods.
Target has removed five or six products this week. Mount Royal Fine Foods has removed products -- from bakery goods to candy bars to ice cream -- for more than two weeks.
"There have been a lot of branches that have grown out of this tree," said Steve Schandewald, a manager at Mount Royal. "It [has] been close to two weeks that we have dealt with it."
Lee Ann Jorgenson, a spokesperson with Supervalu, which owns Cub Foods, said their company has used voluntary recalls of products that have had no involvement to show "an abundance of caution."
The Duluth School District has not been affected by the recall but has stopped purchasing peanut butter products.

"We are taking a precautionary role," said Bill Hanson, the school district's business director.
The school district could resume peanut butter purchasing after Feb. 23, Hanson said.
Peanut Corp. of America is the company chiefly responsible for the recall. Peanut Corp. recently expanded its recall to include all peanuts and peanut products produced at a plant in Blakely, Ga., since Jan. 1, 2007.
Lunds and Byerly's also recalled some snack nuts Tuesday.
