The City of Duluth is looking for volunteers to serve on city boards and commissions which have or will shortly have vacancies.
The city has approximately 50 boards and commissions to provide input on topics such as disabilities, alcohol licensing, planning and zoning. For most of the boards and commissions, Duluth residency is required. People interested in serving can receive an application by logging onto www.duluthmn.gov/clerk/boards_commissions/index.cfm or by calling the City Clerk's office at (218) 730-5500. Current openings include:
Alcohol, Gambling and Tobacco Commission: One vacancy, three-year term. Applicants must be a citizen of the United States and a resident of the city for at least one year immediately preceding his/her appointment.
Building Appeal Board: Four vacancies (one realtor, one building trade union, two general citizens).

Commission on Disabilities: Two vacancies, three-year terms.
Community Development Committee: Two at-large vacancies, three-year terms.
Duluth Public Arts Commission: Six vacancies, three-year terms
Heritage Preservation Commission: One vacancy (must be preservation professional), three-year term. Must be a city resident who has demonstrated an interest in the historical, cultural or architectural development of Duluth or who owns property within a heritage preservation district.
Housing and Redevelopment Authority: One vacancy, five-year term. Must be a resident of the area of operation of the authority; public officer and employees are not eligible.
Library Board: One vacancy.
Parking Commission: One vacancy (Council District 5), three-year term.
Parks and Recreation Commission: Three vacancies (Council District 2, at large, and a recreation professional), three-year terms.
