The assistant superintendent of the Duluth School District left a phone message with parents Thursday to let them know the district is taking steps to respond to the worldwide swine flu outbreak.

"Our district continues to meet and communicate with local and state health agencies to determine any steps necessary to respond to this situation," said Joe Hill. "At this point, one of the most important things we can do is to help share tips to prevent the spread of this infection."

Hill said he was sending that information in a letter home to parents, as well as sharing it with district staff. The district also plans to share new information with parents when it becomes available, Hill said.
