While a robber was grabbing the money, a restaurant employee grabbed his knife.
A short time later, Duluth police nabbed a man they say was the robber.
Duluth police said they were called at 11:15 p.m. on Tuesday to Little Angie's Cantina in Canal Park. Police learned that a man had entered the office and threatened a female employee with a knife. As the man removed money from a cash drawer, the employee managed to snatch the knife out of his pocket. She yelled at him to leave, and he ran from the office, taking an undisclosed amount of cash with him.
Duluth police set up a perimeter around the area, and a lieutenant noticed a man matching the robber's description looking out the rear door of Grizzly's Restaurant at 310 S. Lake Ave. Seeing police, he went back inside the restaurant. Officers found the man inside the restaurant, and a witness identified him as being responsible for the robbery.
The 52-year-old Duluth man was taken to St. Louis County Jail pending charges for first-degree aggravated robbery. The News Tribune generally does not name suspects until they are charged.
