The Duluth Public Library celebrates 125 years of service to the community this year. There will be anniversary celebrations at the Main Library 11 am to noon on Saturday, March 14 and at the Mt. Royal and West Duluth branch libraries 3-4 p.m. on Monday, March 16. Cake and sparkling juice will be served at all three locations, and the Gabriel String Quartet will provide special music at the Main Library. Please come and help the library celebrate!

Celebrate St. Patrick's Day with a little Irish luck. Kids in grades 1-6 are invited to come to the West Duluth Branch Library, 5830 Grand Ave., at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, March 17. Artists from the Northern Expressions Art Collective will be on hand to help kids find their own little pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. Teens in grades 6-12 who are eagerly awaiting the release of "Insurgent," the second movie in the "Divergent" series, are invited to a movie release party 4:30-8 pm. on Thursday, March 19. The party will be held in the Duluth Public Library Green Room, 520 W. Superior St. Teens can get a henna tattoo and create a divergent faction keychain. Spark a reaction and show faction pride by entering the trivia and costume contest to try to win $25 Marcus Theatre gift cards. The movie "Divergent" will be shown at 5:30 p.m.. Pizza and "dauntless" chocolate cupcakes will be provided, while supplies last. For more information, call the library's Youth Services area at 218-730-4200/option 4.

Northern Gael, a Celtic music group, will perform a free program of Irish and Scottish music in the Duluth Public Library Green Room, 520 W. Superior St. 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, March 21. Northern Gael weaves together the vibrant traditions of Ireland and Scotland. This dynamic trio performs a variety of music, from ballads to vigorous sets of dance tunes. Northern Gael presents a lively program of an authentic Celtic repertoire. Northern Gael is composed of three musicians: Ross Sutter (voice, guitar, bodhrán, button accordion) and Laura MacKenzie (wooden flutes, whistles, concertina, various bagpipes, and voice) have performed together for many years as Ross & MacKenzie. They are now joined by fiddler/step dancer Danielle Enblom, and perform as Northern Gael.
