The Duluth Police Department announced today that it will increase its parking enforcement on neighborhoods streets this month as students return to school.

The school year results in increased vehicle traffic and parking violations make pedestrian, vehicle and bus travel hazardous by blocking sidewalks, intersections and bus stops, police said. Parking violations also restrict the right of way on streets and reduces motorists' visibility to see pedestrians and other vehicle traffic.

Police will focus on calendar parking and parking too close, within or blocking an intersection, sidewalk, driveway, alley, stop sign or bus stop.
