It's strange enough that someone would slip into the Red Lobster in Canal Park, snatch a lobster from the tank in the lobby and take off. Now Duluth police are saying it has happened twice in the past year, and the same culprit did it both times.
Workers at the popular seafood restaurant confirmed early Friday evening that they called police just after 11 a.m. Wednesday to report that a lobster was taken. An officer responding to the call spotted Edward Farris, 53, of Duluth, walking with a lobster in a plastic bag and stopped him. He was issued a ticket for trespassing and misdemeanor theft.
The officer brought the live lobster back to the tank at Red Lobster.
Police checked the records and discovered that Farris made the same Red Lobster heist last year. That theft was reported June 7 and Farris was suspected. He was found June 22 and charged with and convicted of misdemeanor theft. That lobster was never recovered.
Farris is well-known to police in the past year. He has 37 court records listed in Minnesota, most of them in Minneapolis courts. He has had seven court appearances since June, with charges of vagrancy, panhandling, drinking in public, littering and petty theft.

His other charges in Hennepin County since 1990 have included assault, terroristic threats, criminal damage to property and disorderly conduct.
