One man suffered minor injuries when he was shot in the arm early Wednesday morning in Duluth’s East Hillside neighborhood, police said.

Officers responded to reports of shots fired and a fight in the parking lot at the SuperAmerica gas station, 602 E. Fourth St., at about 3 a.m., police said in a statement. The victim was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

“One firearm was collected in this incident, and it was determined that the firearm belongs to the victim,” the Duluth Police Department said in the statement. “No one else was injured in this incident.”

No arrests were announced, and police said they are “actively investigating this shooting to identify other parties involved in this altercation.”

However, they said probable cause exists to arrest the victim and a second person who allegedly removed the gun from the scene for illegally possessing a firearm. Police did not immediately release any further details on the incident.
