Duluth police have identified the 22-year-old victim of an East Hillside shooting Tuesday night as Deandre Deontrius Norwood of Duluth.
Police said Norwood was walking outside when he was hit by a single gunshot resulting in a wound to the head. He was transported by private vehicle to Essentia Health-St. Mary's Medical Center and is in stable condition.
Police responded to the shooting shortly after 8:30 p.m. on Seventh Avenue East just below Fourth Street, across the avenue from the Whole Foods Co-op parking lot.
Police spokesman Jim Hansen said officers are following several leads. There has been no word on whether any suspects have been apprehended. Anyone with information on the shooting is asked to call 911.
