Duluth police say they’ve arrested one of two men wanted for an East Hillside robbery and shooting incident last month.
Metris Javon Bell, 20, was taken into custody just before 1 a.m. Thursday. Police say he is the suspect who shot 21-year-old Abraham Lamin during a robbery near Seventh Avenue East and Fourth Street on Aug. 19.
Police said a man was arrested early Thursday as a suspect in a separate robbery following a foot pursuit and a brief struggle. The man was booked at the St. Louis County Jail for fleeing police on foot and obstructing law enforcement without force.
It was through fingerprint testing that authorities learned the suspect was Bell. He already faces a formal charge of aggravated robbery, and police are requesting the addition of a gross misdemeanor false information charge.
The other suspect in the robbery, 35-year-old Jabari Omari Samuel, remains at large. Warrants were issued for the two men on Wednesday.
Police said an investigation revealed that at least three men were fighting in an alley at Seventh Avenue East below Fourth Street just before 6 p.m. that day. Bell then pulled out a handgun and shot Lamin in the leg, and took off running with his bag.
Lamin later said he was walking to the nearby SuperAmerica gas station when he was approached by three men. Lamin said he was attacked and robbed by the men. He was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and released the same night.
