A Duluth native will serve as a double bassist during a performance for former President Gerald Ford's state funeral today.
Master Sgt. Glenn Dewey, a 1981 Central High School graduate who studied music at the University of Minnesota Duluth for two years, will perform with the United States Marine Chamber Orchestra at the Washington National Cathedral.
Dewey joined The President's Own -- the Marine Corps music ensemble which includes the chamber orchestra -- in the mid-1990s as a string bassist.
According to its Web site, the Marine Chamber Orchestra usually performs at state dinners and other social events at the White House.
