A Duluth man who stabbed two men with a pocket knife outside a downtown bar last June was sentenced Wednesday to five years in prison.
Brandon Walter Niemi, 27, pleaded guilty last month to attempted
second-degree murder, second-degree assault, and in a separate case,
burglary.
Judge Mark Munger sentenced Niemi to 60 months in prison on the attempted second-degree murder conviction, 45 months in prison on the second-degree assault conviction and 43 months on the burglary conviction. The sentences are to be served at the same time.

The attempted second-degree murder conviction comes from a fight June
25 outside a downtown bar. According to the criminal complaint, Niemi and another man got into a fight over a woman, and Niemi pulled out a pocket knife and stabbed the other man in the left arm and cut his neck. He cut another man on the wrist.
