Duluth man in court on charge of aiding murder suspect

The boyfriend of the mother of a Duluth teenager who is accused of stabbing and bludgeoning a Lincoln Park man to death earlier this month was arraigned in State District Court today on a charge of aiding an offender.

Kenneth Johnson, 33, of Duluth was arrested this morning and booked into the St. Louis County Jail, accused of not providing information and also providing misleading information to police.

The boyfriend of the mother of a Duluth teenager who is accused of stabbing and bludgeoning a Lincoln Park man to death earlier this month was arraigned in State District Court today on a charge of aiding an offender.

Kenneth Russel Johnson, 33, of Duluth is accused of intentionally aiding another person by destroying or concealing evidence of that crime, providing false or misleading information about the crime or receiving proceeds of the crime or otherwise obstructing the investigation of the crime.

Police said that Johnson aided murder suspect Enrique Robert Giner IV, 17, in selling property stolen from the residence of Bryan Starnes, 702 N. 24th Ave. W., who died there on March 9 as a result of 57 injuries inflicted to his head, face, neck and back.

Giner is charged by juvenile delinquency petition with intentional second-degree murder in Starnes' death.

Judge Dale Harris determined at today's hearing that Johnson is eligible for a public defender. Bail was set at $50,000. The defendant was being held in the St. Louis County Jail. His next court appearance is scheduled for April 17.
