A Minnesota man pleaded no contest Monday to robbing President's One Stop in July 2009.
Seth Robert Ronning, 18, pleaded no contest to one count of armed robbery and was sentenced to six years in prison: three years initial confinement and three years extended supervision, according to court records. The six years will run consecutive to a 70-month prison sentence he already is serving for robbing the Carlton Travel Center the evening before the Superior robbery occurred. In both robberies, Ronning was armed with a knife.
Ronning also was ordered to pay $500 restitution to President's One Stop and fines and court fees totaling $271.
According to the criminal complaint, after robbing the Carlton Travel Center, Ronning and four others drove to a Superior convenience store to buy a large amount of food, including fried chicken. Ronning told the others he needed to get more cash and that he wanted to rob President's. The group drove past President's One Stop and parked in a nearby residential area. At that point, Ronning went into the store and robbed it while wielding a knife.
