A Duluth man has died from injuries suffered in a snowmobile crash on Pequaywan Lake earlier this month.

An obituary reported that Chase DeDominces died Monday from injuries sustained in the March 13 crash about 30 miles northeast of Duluth.

DeDominces was operating a snowmobile when his machine struck an island near the center of the lake just after 9:30 p.m. on March 13, according to the St. Louis County Sheriff's Office.

Both DeDominces and a passenger, Travis Wigstrom, 19, of Duluth were thrown off the snowmobile. Both were taken by helicopter to Essentia Health-St. Mary's Medical Center in Duluth with head injuries, the Sheriff's Office said.

Wigstrom initially was listed in stable condition; he was not listed as a patient at the hospital the week after the crash.

DeDominces' obituary reports that he graduated with honors in 2013 from Duluth East High School, where he played football and basketball for the Greyhounds.

He was pursuing a degree in civil engineering at the University of Minnesota Duluth, and was an avid angler and hunter.

A memorial service is planned for 11:30-12:30 p.m. Saturday at East High School, followed by a celebration of DeDominces' life. A complete obituary can be found here.
