A Duluth man is accused of sexually assaulting a woman at a city bus stop.

Scott Alan Diemert was arraigned in St. Louis County District Court Wednesday on charges of first- and third-degree criminal sexual conduct.

According to the criminal complaint, Diemert punched the woman with his fist at the bus stop near Midtowne Manor, on the 2000 block of West Second Street on the morning of Feb. 19. The alleged victim fell to the ground, where she said the sexual assault took place. She knew the man who allegedly attacked her.

When interviewed by Duluth police officers, the woman had a large bruise on her forehead. She was taken to a Duluth hospital and examined for head injuries and a sexual assault. A nurse found an injury consistent with a sexual assault.

Diemert was arrested at his residence on Saturday. He acknowledged being at the bus stop with the woman but denied any sexual contact. He suggested to an investigator that the woman's injuries were inflicted by a jealous husband.
