Duluth man charged with fifth count of interstate transport of stolen vehicles

A Duluth man was charged with a fifth count of interstate transport of stolen motor vehicles, according to a news release issued by the U.S. Department of Justice.

A Duluth man was charged with a fifth count of interstate transport of stolen motor vehicles, according to a news release issued by the U.S. Department of Justice.

Gale E. Rachuy, 60, had been indicted Sept. 1 on four counts of interstate transportation of stolen motor vehicles. He was arraigned Sept. 3 and his trial is scheduled for Jan. 11. The latest indictment brings the number of charges against Rachuy to five.

If convicted, Rachuy faces a maximum penalty of 10 years in federal prison on each count.

The charges against him are the result of an investigation by the Eau Claire office of the FBI, Duluth and Superior police departments, and Douglas and Carlton county sheriff's offices.

Prosecution has been assigned to Assistant U.S. Attorney Grant C. Johnson.
