A Duluth member of the Minnesota National Guard was awarded a Purple Heart on Saturday during a ceremony at the Duluth Armory.
Spc. Ripley Noyes was awarded the Purple Heart for wounds sustained during combat operations in Iraq, according to Guard Capt. John Dorin.
Dorin did not know the details of how or when Noyes was injured. Noyes could not be reached.
Noyes was awarded the Purple Heart by Lt. Col. Michael Wickman, Commander of 2-194 Cavalry Unit.
