A 23-year-old Duluth man was arrested Monday after allegedly robbing a pedestrian at knifepoint in the city’s Central Hillside neighborhood.
The robbery occurred in midafternoon, close to 4 p.m., in the vicinity of Fourth Avenue East and Fourth Street. Shortly after Duluth police interviewed the 24-year-old victim, officers located and arrested the suspect while he was heading west on Fourth Street. He was found with the victim’s backpack and stolen items, along with a knife that authorities said they believe was used in the robbery.
No one was injured in the incident.
The suspect has a history of convictions, police said, including felony escape from custody, providing false information to police, felony receiving stolen property and misdemeanor theft.
He was brought to the St. Louis County Jail on preliminary charges of aggravated robbery and second degree assault. He had not yet been arraigned as of Tuesday afternoon.
