Duluth lawmakers set meeting to discuss state budget proposal

Duluth area lawmakers have scheduled a public meeting on the Minnesota budget for 7-8:30 p.m. Friday in Montague Hall, Room 70, at the University of Minnesota Duluth.

Duluth area lawmakers have scheduled a public meeting on the Minnesota budget for 7-8:30 p.m. Friday in Montague Hall, Room 70, at the University of Minnesota Duluth.

The "Town Hall Forum" will include information on the governor's proposed fiscal 2013-2014 state budget as well as the projected $627 million shortfall projected for 2014-15, said state Sen. Roger Reinert, DFL-Duluth.

Myron Frans, commissioner of the Department of Revenue, also will attend to discuss the budget's impact on state residents. Duluth area DFL State Reps. Tom Huntley, Mary Murphy and Erik Simonson are expected to join Reinert and Frans.

Reinert said he hopes to use input from the public as lawmakers form budget priorities for coming years.
