Sophomore Alix Hyduke knocked in Abby Dalton's crossing pass with 24 seconds remaining in the second overtime to give Duluth East a 2-1 win over Cretin-Derham Hall in a Great Northern Shootout high school girls soccer semifinal Friday at Ordean Stadium.
The victory in their season opener sends the Greyhounds into today's championship game against top-ranked Woodbury, which defeated No. 2 Eden Prairie 2-0. East lost 2-0 to Woodbury in last year's tournament.
Sarah Hockett scored East's other goal for a 1-0 first-half lead. The Raiders equalized in the 69th minute when Margie Jancik curled in a corner kick.
Jackie Reinemann made seven saves for the Greyhounds.

Laura Shearer's goal in the fourth minute of the second overtime lifted the Hilltoppers to the Lake Superior Conference win at Public Schools Stadium.
The Hilltoppers overcame a 2-0 deficit with second-half goals from Jillian Kratt and Lara L'Abbe. Shauna Wrazidlo scored both goals for the Trojans.

Olivia Faison scored the lone goal in the 74th minute to lead the Tigers to the season-opening victory at PSS.
Denfeld got sparkling goaltending from Ari Livingston, who made 20 saves.

Patrick Sheedy and Jesse Geary scored second-half goals to help the Hilltoppers win the LSC game at PSS.
Goalkeeper Derek Randall only had to make three saves as Marshall improved to 31-2-4 in their last 37 games and 20-2-4 in their last 26 LSC contests.

The Greyhounds ran in a tight pack to dominate the Twin Ports Invitational at Duluth Marshall.
Hibbing's Reily Dougherty won the boys 5-kilometer race in 17 minutes, 51.2 seconds, but East captured the next three spots. Reuban Verdoijak (18:13.5), Grant Cook (18:19.1) and Matt Florestano (18:23.6) placed 2-4 to help the Greyhounds boys to the team title.
East's Sarah Allen (16:48.7), Emily Yetter (17:20) and Macie Dorrow (17:25.7) claimed the top three places in the girls 4K race.

Kelly Fichtner's 10 kills and Sannie Olson's 20 set assists propelled the Hawks cruise to a 25-13, 25-7, 25-9 LSC victory at home.
Winners of the past five Lake Superior Conference titles, the Hawks now have won 36 straight LSC matches since October 2001.
