A group of Central students reclaimed victory Thursday in a state contest they had dominated before last year.
After winning the "We the People, the Citizen and the Constitution" competition for seven straight years, Central High School's Honors Government class lost last year. The school regained the top spot when they won the high school competition Thursday afternoon in the Twin Cities .
"The kids are extremely excited," said Ethan Fisher, Central's Honor's Government teacher.
About 30 Central students participated in the event, which pits
10 schools across the state against each other. Students answer a series of questions about the Constitution to rise to the top. Central students practiced in class for an hour each day and spent about 30 to 40 hours outside of class to prepare for the event.

"I really am just elated," Fisher said about watching his students win. "They had to do a great deal of research to get the knowledge just to compete, and to do as well as they did is really just overwhelming."
The school will now advance to the national competition in April in Washington, D.C., where they will compete against 50 other schools. So far, Central has never won at that level.
