The Duluth Transit Authority is teaming up with Miller Lite to provide Duluth-area residents and visitors with free transit service as they ring in the New Year.

Miller Lite Free Rides will be available on all regular-route bus service Saturday, beginning at 5 p.m., said a DTA news release issued this week.

Service will be extended on most routes until after midnight, with the last buses departing downtown Duluth as late as 2:20 a.m. on New Year's Day.

"We're excited to help people ring in the New Year safely by bringing Miller Lite Free Rides back to the Duluth area," said Diane Wagner, responsibility initiatives manager for MillerCoors, in the news release. "Our partnership with DTA will take countless cars off the road and help ensure the holiday is memorable for all the right reasons."

This is the sixth consecutive year that the DTA has offered free transportation on New Year's Eve and the third year it has partnered with Miller Lite as the presenting sponsor. Additional sponsors include KQDS Fox 21, Red Rock Radio and the Duluth News Tribune.
