The Duluth Transit Authority will begin a Park & Ride route today between Hermantown and downtown Duluth.

The express bus will make the trip to downtown in about 20 minutes with just one stop en route at St. Mary's hospital. Free parking will be provided in the Lakes 10 movie theater lot on Stebner Road from 4 a.m. to 6 p.m.

The bus, Route 20X, will run weekdays only, making four runs into town in the morning and four trips back in the evening. The service makes use of the return run of the Route 20 bus between downtown and United Health Care and the Duluth Airpark; previously the bus made its return trips empty.

Morning buses will depart at 5:46, 6:46, 7:46 and 8:46 a.m. headed for the transit center in downtown Duluth. The buses will stop at St. Mary's hospital in about 12 minutes and arrive at the transit center in about 20 minutes.

The afternoon buses will depart downtown at 4:15, 4:45, 5:15 and 5:45 p.m. and stop at the hospital before returning to the movie theater.

Standard peak-hour fares of $1.25 will apply except for the first two morning runs, which are at the off-peak fare of 60 cents.
