Though it hasn't been without its fair share of financial problems, Great Lakes Aquarium is still a fun place to go -- especially for those with children in their company.
As soon as you step foot inside, you're treated to the sight of a mammoth fake fish and the freshwater-oriented aquarium's signature installation: a breathtaking wall of water.
From there, a quick escalator ride leads you up to the exhibits -- which wind all the way back down to the main floor. Some highlights include Great Lakes-themed "habitats," a stingray touch tank and Zhoosh and Anang, a pair of ever-entertaining river otters.
