The U.S. Small Business Administration will permanently close its Disaster Loan Outreach Center in Grand Marais at 4 p.m. Thursday due to decreasing demand.
The office was set up last month to handle disaster issues for businesses after the Ham Lake wildfire in May that burned 76,000 acres and nearly 150 buildings along the end of the Gunflint Trail.
SBA officials urged anyone who suffered a loss in the fire to contact the office by Thursday. The center is located in the Cook County Courthouse in Grand Marais. Anyone unable to visit in person can call (800) 659-2955.
