A driver having a diabetic reaction sideswiped another vehicle on Interstate 35 just north of Moose Lake this evening before his car left the freeway and went into a river, authorities say.

Anthony Simon, 33, of Finlayson, was traveling southbound on the freeway about 6 p.m. when he apparently began losing control of his vehicle due to a medical condition. Some time after he sideswiped another vehicle, his 2007 Toyota car left the roadway and went into the Moose Horn River, according to Steve Dehan, a Minnesota State Patrol dispatcher.

Simon suffered facial lacerations in the crash, Dehan said, adding: "nothing serious."

The car was in the water when authorities arrived. Simon was transported to Mercy Hospital in Moose Lake. Staff there wouldn't disclose his condition.
