DFLers plan pub crawl for convention delegates

Be on the lookout tonight for hundreds of Democrats participating in a downtown pub crawl as an informal welcome to Duluth for the state DFL Convention.

Local Democrats organized the pub crawl to highlight young leadership in the city and to make sure that "visitors leave town with a feeling that exciting things are happening in the heart of Duluth," said Rep. Roger Reinert, DFL-Duluth.

Delegates will board a train at the Depot to take them to the Fitger's Complex, their first stop on the pub crawl. They'll qualify for prizes if they get their invitation punched by local leaders on duty at the Rex Bar, Red Star, Carmody Irish Pub, Zeitgeist, Black Water Lounge and Pizza Luce.

Reinert said those bars were picked because all are new arrivals since the last time the DFL Convention was here eight years ago.

Duluth Mayor Don Ness and St. Paul Mayor Chris Coleman will co-host the final stop at Pizza Luce, where the entertainment highlight is "Candidate Karaoke."
