A St. Louis County jury on Wednesday found a Detroit man guilty of three felonies in connection with assaulting a man with a gun outside the Kozy Bar in downtown Duluth in April.

Deandre L. Barnes, 25, was convicted of second-degree assault, terrorist threats and being a felon in possession of a firearm.

According to the criminal complaint, a patron of the Kozy Bar said Darryl D. Boykin put him up against the wall and Barnes held a gun in his face and said he was going to kill him over a crack cocaine debt. The victim ran inside the bar and the bartender called police.

Boykin is scheduled to be tried next month for his role in the crime. Judge Gerald Martin ordered that an Arrrowhead Regional Corrections probation officer investigate Barnes' background before sentencing on Nov. 24.
