John Derbis, a 23-year-old University of Minnesota Duluth student, announced today that he's dropping out of the race for the vacant Minnesota House 7B seat.

In leaving the race, Derbis endorsed Marshall Stenersen.

"The voters I was going to get were going to come at his expense," Derbis said. "Of the two major candidates, one is interested in investing in tourism and big business, the other is interested in investing in people."

Derbis was referring to Stenersen's main rival in the race, Roger Reinert.

Reinert could not be immediately reached for comment.
