Ben DeNucci and Casey Venema advanced from Tuesday's primary for a seat on the Itasca County Board.
DeNucci, the mayor of Nashwauk, and Venema, the chairman of Lawrence Lake Township, will face off in the general election on Dec. 12 for the District 5 seat that was vacated earlier this year by Mark Mandich, the Grand Rapids Herald-Review reported.
DeNucci received 757 votes and Venema received 449, the Herald-Review reported. A third candidate, Roger Weber, received 142 votes and was eliminated from the race.
District 5 includes Nashwauk, Marble and Calumet, north to Carpenter Township.
