The "I Love Animals" fundraising event for the Lake Superior Zoo and Friends of Animals takes place from noon-4 p.m. today at Duluth Business University.
DBU's veterinary technician program is hosting the first annual event, which is free to the public. The school will close its grounds and put up tents and corrals to show wild and domesticated animals.
Demonstrations will include performing acupuncture on a horse, showing people how to give a cat a massage, pet a goat and feed a rabbit. There also will be a dog-sledding demonstration from John Beargrease Sled Dog Marathon mushers, as well as a doggie fashion show.
The Zoo Mobile's outreach animals will be there, including chinchillas, hedgehogs, desert tortoises, snakes, bugs and birds.
Friends of Animals will have pets ready for adoption on site.
