The City of Duluth will accept the ownership of Historical Park in the Fond du Lac neighborhood this morning.

The two Duluth chapters of the Daughters of the American Revolution - the Daughters of Liberty and Greysolon du Lhut - have owned the property near 133rd Avenue West and Second Street since 1927.

The lot commemorates the site of John Jacob Astor's American Fur Company Trading Post and the site of the signing of the first Ojibway treaty in Minnesota. The site also contains a glacial boulder with a commemorative DAR plaque mounted on it.

The Daughters of the American Revolution chapters will present the property to the city at a public event at the park beginning at 11 a.m.
