Swedish Midsommar will bring a little paganism to the precincts of the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd on Tuesday. Festivities begin at 12:30 p.m. with women making wildflower wreaths to wear in their hair, and everyone can paint wooden Dala horses under Alison Aune's guidance. She'll tell you about the origins of these rites and rituals and help you re-establish connections with the ancestors. At 2 p.m., musician Ross Sutter will present the program, speaking about the music of the seasons, about folk dancing, and what it all means. At 3 p.m. the maypole will be dressed with flowers and Sutter will direct the dancing. As this is Swedish, the day concludes with coffee and sweets. The church is at 45th Avenue East and Colorado Street in Lakeside. Call 525-4274.
