The Virginia Police Department arrested a 44-year-old Tower man after an alleged shots-fired incident and a vehicle pursuit Wednesday.
Rustin Kent Hartland has been charged with fleeing a police officer, driving while impaired and possessing a firearm after he was convicted of a felony, according to the criminal complaint.
Bois Forte police received a report of shots fired around 1:30 p.m. Wednesday and that the suspect had fled in a vehicle.
Virginia police located the vehicle in the city a couple hours later and attempted a traffic stop. The driver of the vehicle fled police at a high rate of speed down Second Avenue South, driving on the wrong side of the road and as fast as 50 mph, the complaint read.
Hartland ended up in a crash on the 500 block of Second Avenue North in Virginia. According to police, no injuries were reported at the time of the crash.
Police later located a handgun near the intersection of Third Street and First Avenue South, where the pursuit began. The complaint said the handgun had a fully loaded magazine and chambered round.
Hartland's first court appearance was Friday morning.
