After seeing an uptick in shooting and gunfire incidents in the last few months, the Duluth Police Department responded to another report of shots fired Wednesday night in the Central Hillside neighborhood.
Officers responded shortly after 8 p.m. to the alley between Third and Fourth streets on the 100 block east. They found evidence consistent with the report, according to a news release from the police department. After canvassing the area, officers did not locate any suspects.
There have been no injury reports as of late Thursday morning. The Duluth Police Violent Crimes Unit is investigating the incident. No other information was available as of late Thursday morning, the police department said.
Other shootings have occurred this summer in the same area as Wednesday night's gunfire incident.
On Aug. 12, Duluth police responded to another report of shots fired a couple of blocks away from the Wednesday night incident. The victim of the Aug. 12 shooting was treated at Essentia Health-St. Mary's Medical Center for a gunshot wound to the abdomen.
And on July 11, police responded to another shooting a block away. The victim of that shooting received a non-life-threatening gunshot wound.
