The Duluth Police Department received reports of multiple gunshots being fired in the vicinity of 24th Avenue West and Third Street at 12:31 a.m. Tuesday. No injuries were reported, and a suspect has been detained.
Responding squads intercepted a vehicle that was speeding away from the scene and stopped it at the intersection of 24th Avenue West and Sixth Street. The 20-year-old driver of the vehicle was arrested and transported to the St. Louis County Jail, pending charges of second-degree assault, threats of violence and reckless discharge of a firearm. The News Tribune generally does not report the identities of suspects until they are formally charged.
Lt. Robin Roeser reported that multiple witnesses, and people believed to have been involved in the incident, have been interviewed. Police also found evidence of gunfire at and near the intersection of 24th Avenue West and Third Street. The people involved in the incident know each other, according to a police report, so this case does not appear to be a random act.
