Bentleyville vandalized again, equipment stolen last day of 2018 season
Bentleyville was vandalized yet again Thursday night.
According to a post on the Bentleyville Facebook page, this time thieves sawed off a 2-inch diameter cable that was being used during takedown from five buildings and the major power supply of the light show. They also stole 150 gallons of diesel fuel along with the motor to the storage tank, cut each end of the cords that were frozen in the ice and took the spotlights used to light up the #BENTLEYVILLE 2018” sign around the tree.
The post went on to say that on the last night of Bentleyville, Dec. 26, two stores in the Santa Claus line were broken into and iPads and equipment were stolen. On Dec. 16, vandals were caught on camera tipping over the wishing well, spilling coins onto the ground. On Dec. 4 and Dec. 5, two masked vandals caused $2,500 in damage to the gift shop in Santa’s House and the food and toy donation box was damaged, but “nothing of value was stolen.”
