A 33-year-old woman suffered significant injuries on Monday after Duluth Police Department officers responded to a domestic violence incident in the Lincoln Park neighborhood.

A 46-year-old male suspect was arrested, pending charges of first- and second-degree assault and felony domestic assault, said a Duluth Police Department news release on Tuesday.

Officers responded at 6:15 p.m. to the 500 block of 22nd Avenue West, where they brought the woman to safety and detained the man. The woman was then transported to a local hospital with "significant, but non-life-threatening injuries," the news release said.

An initial report Monday night described the incident as a stabbing, but it was unclear if the woman's wounds were stab wounds, the police said a day later.
