A hungry crook tasted only sweet defeat after getting caught trying to steal a garbage can full of fudge from Miller Hill Mall on Monday, Duluth police reported.

After responding to a report of suspicious individuals at the mall, Duluth police located two people fleeing and arrested one, said Duluth Police Department spokesperson Ingrid Hornibrook.

A stolen coin donation bucket covered in fudge was found in a ditch, and the garbage can full of fudge was found nearby.

"I wish we knew what their plan was with all that fudge, but getting into trouble over that tasty treat certainly wasn't worth it!" Hornibrook said.
