MAHNOMEN, Minn. — Three men accused of trying to arrange sex with investigators posing as sex trafficking victims were arrested in an undercover police operation in Mahnomen on Friday, June 28, according to a news release from the White Earth Indian Reservation.

Authorities said the men made arrangements to buy sex with undercover investigators in online conversations, according to the news release. Police arrested the men when they arrived at an arranged meeting place.

The three arrested were identified by the White Earth Reservation as Steven Bergren, 46, of Lake Park, Shane Lehn, 35, of Rothsay, and Michael Skjerven, 59, of Thief River Falls. The news release does not mention specific charges and does not include information on where they are being held.

The undercover sex trafficking operation was started by the Tribes United Against Sex Trafficking Task Force, which was assisted by the White Earth Police Department and Mahnomen County Sheriff's Office.
