The Duluth City Council voted 7 to 2 tonight to suspend the Norshor Experience's liquor license for six days for violating the city's liquor code.
The punishment was handed down after Norshor had previously been ordered to not sell liquor for a day in February, but violated that order. The suspension begins on Wednesday.
Norshor Attorney Randall Tigue told the council that he planned to appeal the decision, saying that his client wasn't properly notified when the previous suspension was to begin and that it was too harsh. Councilor Jay Fosle suggested the punishment wasn't harsh enough. "How many times is this going to go on before we pull their license," he said.
HOW THEY VOTED: Councilors Sharla Gardner and Jim Stauber voted against the punishment due to concerns that it would limit the Norshor's ability to appeal.
