Officials in Minnesota said Tuesday that the Pagami Creek fire in the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness is 82 percent contained and remains at 92,682 acres.

Cool and damp weather aided firefighting efforts the past few days. Crews have been working on fire break lines along the northeast boundary of the fire near Fishdance Lake, the eastern side of the fire near Ferne Lake, and the southern portion of the fire near Bog Lake. Planes and helicopters supported fire crews with water dumps and in transport of supplies.

There are 476 personnel assigned to the fire.

Meanwhile, cooler conditions and higher relative humidity are helping to slow the spread of the Tooth Lake Fire in Voyageurs National Park, a news release from the park said.

The fire grew to 300 acres on Saturday and remains at that size, burning in a mixed hardwood and pine forest. Favorable weather conditions and little further spread are expected over the next week or so, the news

release said.

Personnel arrived on Saturday from Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore to help control the fire.

A small human-caused fire on Cutover Island in Kabetogama Lake was suppressed on Saturday. Firefighters will continue to check to make sure it is out.

Fire restrictions throughout the state remain in effect. No campfires are allowed except in designated, developed campgrounds. Campfires are restricted in the entire BWCAW.
